Annina has always loved sewing, textiles, and the history of fashion, beginning sewing at a young age. After gaining a BA in History and Education, Annina earned her MS in Fashion Design from Drexel University. She started a word-of-mouth custom business, Granaté Couture, creating bridal gowns and other custom work. Eventually, she began to dream of an artisanal collection of made-to-measure garments and created a capsule collection with which she applied to the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator and was chosen as a Designer in Residence for its second year. During that year she researched various business models and launched her line, Granaté Prêt.In the end of her residency, she showed at the opening night of New York Fashion Week, creating a custom silk chiffon corseted gown for Jill Martin of the Today Show for the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women celebrity runway show, and was mentioned on the Today Show by Jill, with a photo of the gown.
Since her residency, Annina has shown at Toronto Fashion Week, atNYFWin the Go Red for Women show, at Philly Fashion Week, and was selected as one of 19 semi-finalists to show at Charleston Fashion Week in their design competition. She has shown at various high-end Art and Craft shows, such as the Washington Craft Show, the Baltimore ACC show, and for the past few years, she has been selected to show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Show, one of the top three in the country, including 2017. Showing at various benefit events throughout the year, benefitting hospitals, educational programs, and other causes remains close to the core of Annina’s mission as a designer.
“Being in the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator was a huge eye opener as to the amount of business I learned and still need to learn. The amount of marketing skills, the multi-level mindset you have to have as an entrepreneur.”
